Aims and Scope

Biblioteka Regionalisty is a scholarly journal that serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and the dissemination of research findings in the fields of contemporary economics, socio-economic geography, and spatial development.

The journal publishes articles in English, Polish, and other foreign languages.

The aim of Biblioteka Regionalisty is to disseminate and internationalize the achievements of Polish scholarship through the publication and wide dissemination of research findings under an open-access and non-commercial publishing model. The journal provides a forum for presenting original research contributions in the fields of socio-economic geography, economics, and finance, while also serving as a platform for knowledge exchange between the academic community and socio-economic practice.

The articles published in the journal focus on issues within the social sciences, including economics, finance, regional policy, spatial development - with particular emphasis on local and regional development - the knowledge-based economy, public administration, local government finance, spatial security, as well as creativity and innovation in the economy.

The journal supports the advancement of scientific knowledge, decision-making processes, and the development of public policies at the local, regional, and national levels. In doing so, it contributes to strengthening the impact of science on the socio-economic environment and fostering lasting relationships between academic research and practice.

The journal’s thematic scope includes, among others, regional policy, spatial development - with particular emphasis on local and regional development - the knowledge-based economy, public administration, local government finance, spatial security, as well as creativity and innovation in the economy.

Internationalization of the Scientific Journal

Biblioteka Regionalisty pursues a consistent policy of internationalization. The journal publishes articles in both English and Polish, with a substantial proportion of its most highly cited publications appearing in English. All articles include English-language metadata, including titles, abstracts, and keywords.

The journal's international profile is reflected in the composition of its Scientific Board as well as in the authorship of its publications. Articles published in the journal are cited by authors affiliated with institutions in the above-mentioned countries across three continents: Europe, Australia, and Asia. The journal's authors and co-authors include researchers from the Czech Republic, Ukraine, other European countries, and Turkey. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that, of the 71 citing publications identified in Web of Science, as many as 68 were published in English. This demonstrates that the journal's scholarly output is widely recognized and utilized within the international scientific community.

Furthermore, the journal operates in accordance with the international ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, applies a double-blind peer review process, and provides full open access to all published content free of charge.

Dissemination and Promotion of Polish Science, Culture, Technological Thought, and the Polish Language by the Scientific Journal

One of the key missions of Biblioteka Regionalisty is to promote Polish scholarly achievements in the fields of regional development and spatial planning, regional and local development, regional policy, innovation and economic competitiveness, public administration, local government finance, and related disciplines. The journal publishes research findings concerning Polish regions, cities, and local governments, with particular emphasis on Lower Silesia, the energy transition, regional policy, entrepreneurship, urban and regional resilience, and sustainable development.

The journal features research addressing major development challenges facing Poland, including the functioning of special economic zones, the development of post-mining regions, smart specialization strategies, innovation policy, urban and rural development, local real estate markets, and the financing of local governments. These publications constitute an important mechanism for knowledge transfer between the academic community and practitioners involved in regional and local government policy.

The journal successfully combines the international dissemination of Polish research with its role as a forum for promoting the Polish language and Polish scholarly thought. By publishing articles in Polish, English, and other foreign languages, the journal simultaneously reaches both national and international academic communities, as well as practitioners, particularly those involved in local and regional government.
